We’ve put together some information that you might need to have a great time, and keep everyone safe.

ON ARRIVAL

If you have a seated ticket, access will be from King William Road. Seats will be provided for you, but feel free to bring along cushions, blankets or Christmas decorations to make your seat comfortable and festive.

If you have a car parking ticket, you will need to access Torrens Parade Ground from Victoria Drive. First in, best dressed, so we suggest getting here early - however, if you arrive in a vintage car, we are saving some of the front row for you! Please email us in advance if you plan on arriving in a vintage car so we can plan car park spacing accordingly.

Please be patient as some waiting may be required. Vans and higher sitting vehicles will be seated towards the back to accommodate sightlines.

Please only drive at a maximum of 5kph while on site. Our staff and bicycle-hosts will direct you to the best available park.

Can I set myself up outside of my car?

You sure can! Feel free to bring along your camping chairs or bean bags. Cars will be directed to park leaving enough space for you to create your own cozy set up, while still maintaining plenty of space to abide by COVID regulations.

Leaving early?

While we encourage audiences to stay for the entire film screening, if you need to leave, please find one of our attendants, who will guide you out safely.

Will there be anyone onsite to assist if I have any difficulties?

Of course! If you're having technical difficulties or car issues, just catch the attention of one of our bicycle-hosts or FOH team members, and they will be right over to assist you. We have the RAA on site each night in case you need assistance.

TICKETS

All tickets are general admission.

Our giant 10 metre by 6 metre cinema screen means that you’ll have a great view no matter where you sit.

Due to audience safety, there is no admission for car parking tickets once the feature film has started, and we cannot provide refunds for latecomers.

How do I show my ticket?

Tickets will be emailed to you when you book via FringeTIX. Please make sure to have the barcode on your ticket ready for scanning on your mobile phone display. If you need to print your ticket, we can also accept this, but encourage paperless where possible.

How many people are covered in a car parking ticket?

As many people as are legally allowed in the vehicle i.e. everyone must have their own seatbelt (children under 5 can be seated on an adult's lap). Unfortunately, mini-buses and trucks are not allowed.

I have not received my ticket. Do I need it to enter?

You’ll need to show your ticket at the entrance to be allowed in. If your ticket hasn’t arrived via email (check your junk folder!) send us an email at ticketing@xanadudrivein.com and one of our team will get back to you ASAP.

What ages is this event for?

We welcome families and all ages for the Xanadu Xmas Drive-In. Both films are rated G, so if you have any concerns you can look up the parental recommendations for the films online. Our post-show Xmas Party each night kicks off at 10pm (18th) and 10:45pm (19th) and will have more of a party atmosphere - so if you want to take young ones home to bed earlier, you are welcome to leave whenever you need - or follow the tradition of the Drive-In and let them fall asleep in the back seat of the car!

DID WE SAY -  IT’S A COSTUME PARTY !

Who doesn't love a good excuse to dress up?!

Great costume looks will win themselves a box of popcorn - we’re looking for your spookiest and kookiest looks for The Nightmare Before Christmas, and your best 1940s retro vibes for It’s A Wonderful Life.

TUNE IN

Tune your car radio to our dedicated drive-in radio frequency to get the event and film audio direct to your car speakers. If your car doesn't have FM stations or you want to completely turn off your vehicle, you can bring your own portable radio and tune into the designated station.

Outdoor speakers will be provided for the seated area.

FOOD, DRINK & MERRIMENT

We’ll have a couple of food trucks selling tasty food from 7pm and you can also preorder food packs along with your ticket at FringeTIX. Keep an eye on our IG page @xanadudrivein for updates on specific vendors, so you can plan accordingly.

Popcorn and choc-tops can also be delivered straight to your car by our bicycle-riding hosts!

Drinks will be available from the Speakeasy Hotel caravan bars, including free water.

Please note no external alcohol or glass can be brought onto the site.

If you're driving, make sure you’ve chosen a designated driver before you arrive to get you safely home. Xanadu Drive-In encourages the responsible consumption of alcohol.

Make sure to visit the Xanadu Christmas market for some last-minute Christmas presents by local makers and artisans. Again, keep an eye on our IG for specific stall info.

The Xanadu Drive-In is a cashless venue.
Toilets (including an accessible toilet) are also available on site. Please ensure to maintain social distancing if queuing for the toilets.

No smoking on the premises, please!

KEEPING US ALL COVID-SAFE

You know the drill by now - don’t come to the drive-in if you’re feeling unwell. Make sure you check in using the QR code on arrival and keep 1.5m away from other patrons.

As the Xanadu Drive-In is an outdoor event, masks are not mandatory, but we recommend bringing your mask with you to pop on when ordering drinks and food to keep our staff, and other patrons, safe.

The Xanadu Drive-In is fully contact-free. We will be maintaining government restrictions and guidelines at all times and offer large walkways and spacing so you can maintain social distancing. In fact, there’s no need to get out of your car at all during the screening if you don’t want to.

Touchpoints will be frequently cleaned and sanitised, including toilets and we will have COVID Marshals onsite to ensure protocols are followed and to answer any of your concerns.

In the event that COVID guidelines change in the lead up to the event, we will be in contact via email to update you on any changes to the event.

KEEPING IT GREEN

We are focused on making Xanadu Drive-In as environmentally low-impact as possible.

Some of the ways we are doing this include:

  • Ticket Holders will be provided with e-tickets to the event;

  • Reusable cups - The Speakeasy Bar will be operating a cup deposit system;

  • All food available on-site will be served using biodegradable packaging;

  • A water point will be available - we encourage you to bring a reusable water bottle as no plastic water bottles will be available on site.

  • A three-tiered bin system will be on site so you can make sure to reduce, recycle and rot your rubbish!

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT’S RAINING OR WINDY?

The Xanadu Drive-In is an outdoor venue, and subject to whatever the weather is on the day! The event will go ahead rain or shine - however, the event might be cancelled if the weather conditions become dangerous for staff or patrons - such as if high winds or thunderstorms are forecast, in which case our inflatable screen, or other event infrastructure may have to be protected or come down.

When booking your ticket, you accept that we can’t predict the weather, and that tickets are not refundable in the event of rain or low temperatures.

If the weather is considered dangerous, and the decision is made to cancel that night’s festivities, we will let you know by 4pm at the latest. You will be notified by the email you provided on booking if the event is cancelled, and via a text message if the cancellation is within 24 hours of the event start time. FringeTIX will organise a refund and you can look towards rebooking to an alternate date in the season, if available, but unfortunately we are unable to offer exchanges in these circumstances.

If you haven’t received any notification of cancellation, assume that the event is going ahead! Dress for the weather, and bring something to keep you warm and dry - the day may be warm, but the evening might get chilly. Please note that umbrellas are not permitted, as it interferes with other audience members’ view of the screen.

ACCESSIBLE DRIVE-In

The team at Xanadu Drive-In are working hard to make the event as accessible as possible. This includes:

  • Reserved seating for wheelchair users (this includes car parking spaces);

    Please let our staff know on arrival and they will position your car in an appropriate location. As this is a temporary venue, designated wheelchair accessible car parking spaces are also temporary and not marked as such, however our FOH team will be able to direct you to the appropriate space at the event.

    Designated wheelchair accessible car parks are located at the end of each row of cars, closest to the boom gate entrance/exit. Safe wheelchair accessible drop off/pick up area are in close proximity to the venue entrance - please enter via the boom gates. If dropping off, or picking up you are welcome to fully enter the site - just let our FOH or Security team know.

    **Wheelchair users, please note that the surface of the Torrens Parade Ground can be uneven with loose gravel in places. If you have any concerns, please contact our team.

  • Designated wheelchair accessible unisex toilet on-site;

  • Subtitles on the screen during the film screening;

  • Clearly signed and lit walkways;

  • Carers and Companion Cardholders are welcome.

If you or someone you know has specific access requirements, please email hello@xanadudrivein.com to let us know how to best accommodate your needs.
